E-Safety

E-safety is a big part of our safeguarding agenda at Hayes and also forms part of our ICT provision in lessons at KS3, across our ACTIVE programmes and tutor time.

The 4 C’s help to identify and recognise where online risks can arise:

CONTENT: Being exposed to illegal, inappropriate or harmful content. For example: pornography, fake news, self-harm, suicide, radicalisation and extremism.

CONDUCT: Personal online behaviour that increases the likelihood of, or causes, harm. For example: making, sending and receiving explicit messages and online bullying.

CONTACT: Being subjected to harmful online interaction with other users. For example: peer to peer pressure, adults posing as children (grooming) and commercial advertising.

COMMERCE: Risks such as online gambling, inappropriate advertising, phishing and/or financial scams

Below are some links useful links provided by the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre to help students, parents & carers understand the threats that children may be exposed to on-line as well as ways of dealing with them.

We would encourage you to spend some time looking through the various links and discussing internet safety with your parents/carers.
