Hayes School is a member of the Impact Multi Academy Trust (a local trust comprising 7 schools). Our primary and secondary schools are high achieving and popular schools working together for the benefit of the young people in our local community, while retaining their own individual identities.
The Directors/Trustees of the Impact Multi Academy Trust act as the trustees for the charitable activities of the academy trust and are also the directors of the company for the purposes of company law.
The Directors on the Impact Multi Academy Trust Board, together with governors on the Local Governing Body of Hayes School set the vision and strategic direction for the school and hold leaders to account for the standards of education, care and student outcomes. The Governing Body at Hayes School have responsibility for raising school standards. Additionally, trustees hold the major legal and financial responsibilities and ensure that financial management is efficient and the use of resources provides value for money. All are strongly committed to fulfilling statutory safeguarding and child protection responsibilities, ensuring that Hayes School students are safe. Directors/Trustees and Governors bring a wide range of experiences and professional expertise to the school.
The Governing Body is comprised of parent governors, teacher and associate staff governors, local authority governors and community governors.
The work of the Local Governing Body is carried out by a Full Governing Board which meets twice per term.
Governors carry out ongoing training and regular visits to the school to meet with staff and students, work with members of the Senior Leadership Team and to undertake activities to support their evaluation of the school's work.
Governance of Hayes School has been judged outstanding by Ofsted and governors are actively involved in the life of the school, providing both challenge and support.
I was very pleased to join the Hayes School community as a Governor in 2019. I am passionate about education, having worked in the sector for over 25 years. I have previously been a governor at a primary school and the Adult Education College. I graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in chemistry and worked as a research chemist for several years, and continue to have a great interest in science. After having my family, I had a number of roles in developing education business links and building partnerships between education providers and the wider community. I have been involved in careers education, training and delivery for a number of years, and currently lead the London National Careers Service, focusing on adults and lifelong learning. I believe that supporting all young people to make the most of their educational experience, and learning skills that will enable them to make the most of their life beyond school, is paramount. I have lived in the locality for over 30 years and welcome the opportunity to work with the team at Hayes.
I joined the governing body as a parent governor in 2021, having previously served as a parent governor at a local infant school. I have a son in Year 11 and a daughter in a Year 8.
I am a child and family Social Worker, with extensive experience across social care, education, children’s centres, charities and residential establishments. I took a huge leap into self-employment in 2019, establishing my own child protection and safeguarding training and consultancy business. It has been tough and challenging at times, particularly trying to establish a new business during a pandemic. However the rewards have been greater, particularly the flexibility to spend more time with my family and now the opportunity to support the school.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, exercise, sewing, crochet and walking (with reluctant children!)
I am the Clerk to Governors and am delighted to be part of the Hayes Community. I really enjoy the challenges and fulfilment that the role of Clerk brings. After working for many years in the Finance sector as a project manager I felt the need for a career change to allow me to spend more time with my young son, and having worked as a Teaching Assistant, I now work as Clerking and Compliance Manager within the Impact Multi Academy Trust. My spare time is dedicated to my family but I also enjoy dining out, meeting up with friends and supporting the ‘Blues’ at Stamford Bridge!
I am a Teaching Assistant at Hayes School and I am very pleased to have the opportunity now to also contribute to the school community as Staff Governor. Having two teenage children, a degree in Education and a job as a TA, I take an active interest in education. I was previously a governor at Hawes Down Primary School for 10 years. I have a background in IT. I started as an IT Trainer after my graduation and was Training Operations Manager ten years later when I took a career break to start a family. Apart from when I was in Southampton studying my degree, I have always lived in the local area and many, many moons ago I was a student at Hayes School. Having a job, two teenagers and being governor means I am quite busy – but when I do get spare time I can usually be found in my garden trying to get my vegetables and flowers to grow!
I grew up in South East London and have lived in Bromley for 10 years with my husband and we have 2 children at a local primary school. I studied law at Cambridge and went on to start my legal career as a corporate lawyer in the City before moving to my current role of General Counsel at the international architecture practice Foster + Partners over 12 years ago. I have an interesting and varied risk management role and love working in and supporting a creative business. I sit on the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion board at Foster + Partners specifically championing parents and others with caring responsibilities but I have a keen interest in all aspects of diversity and am always keen to try and listen and learn from others perspectives. This is my first Governor role and I am very much looking forward to working as part of the governing body to support the School.
Having a daughter starting Year 10, I am honoured to be joining the Hayes School Governing Body as Parent Governor in 2022. With strong commitment to our wider community, I also serve as the secretary of Hayes Kent Village Association. I work for a global fintech company developing strategic solutions within the financial services industry. I have a doctorate degree in robotic process automation (RPA) in large institutional investment management firms’ client service teams. I champion diversity, equity and inclusion and mentor adults in career and work-life integration areas as a member of European Women in Boards. I like going to the theatre, eating out, and travelling - especially as a ‘pillion’ (on the back of the motorbike) across Europe. Spending time with my family and friends brings me absolute joy!
I am excited to be a part of the Hayes School Governing Body and I am eager to explore the school and provide support wherever possible. I grew up in Bromley and currently live in Sidcup with my husband and our two dogs. My professional role involves leading a team in an investment bank in London, focusing on office management, business administration, people development, employee engagement, and early careers. I am proud to champion diversity, equity, and inclusion. Overseeing our internships, apprenticeships, and graduate programme allows me to ensure equal opportunities for individuals from all backgrounds. I am an advocate of supporting women returning to work and have adapted my team strategy over the years to support my employees with the flexibility they need to feel supported in the workplace. I look forward to bringing this passion for DE&I to Hayes and collaborating with the school to provide unwavering support for all students.
In my spare time, I enjoy travelling and spending as much time as I can with my family and friends. I enjoy unwinding with a bit of reality TV or a crime show and while I am a dedicated Arsenal fan, I enjoy watching all sport as much as possible.
I have lived in Hayes for the last 18 years, with my wife and 2 children, both of whom attended Hayes School. I see the school as the heart of the Hayes community and am personally indebted to it for the excellent job it did with each of my children. I am keen to help maintain its outstanding record and support it in providing a stimulating and inspiring environment for every student. I studied economics at UCL before embarking on a career in educational publishing. After some years running textbook publisher, Thomson Learning, I set up my own company, Nelson Croom Ltd, which I have run for the last 20 years. We publish online courses to help accountants stay up to date. I am also Chair of the Junior Section of Bromley Basketball Club, which provides a home for over 200 junior members to play basketball, at all levels from fun play and coaching, right up to Junior National League Basketball teams.
In my spare time I play tennis and watch Crystal Palace, where my son and I hold season tickets.
I have always been passionate about mentoring and growing others. I am delighted to join the governing body and hope I can add real value to the school and local community. I studied Pharmacy at King’s College London and am a registered pharmacist. I hold an MBA from Warwick Business School. I work for a global pharmaceutical company, leading a team of physicians, pharmacists and scientists. I am a strong advocate for inclusion and diversity and set up an Ethnicity network in the company. I live in Bromley with my husband and 2 young children.
I joined the Hayes Governing Body in January 2019 after taking early retirement from my teaching role at the school in July 2018. I became a member of the teaching staff in 1997 as pastoral leader and Geography teacher. I have been part of the school’s journey to outstanding and retired as a member of the senior leadership team and the school’s designated safeguarding lead. My daughters have attended the school and the youngest is currently in the 6th Form so I have had a parent/carer perspective as well as a teaching one. I am looking forward to developing my role as governor and continuing to be part of this fantastic school’s journey, sharing my 33 years of teaching experience. I have been adapting to a new regime without the routine of school and the contact with the students and staff. I am pursuing new hobbies and activities and enjoying the opportunity to take long walks with my dog and of course, my husband!
