I completed my teacher training year at Hayes School in 2009/10 and I really enjoyed the school environment and character. Since then I have worked in a number of different schools which has provided me with a range of experiences having taught students of all abilities from a wide range of different backgrounds.
I was very happy to be given the chance to return to teach Physics at Hayes. I was aware how well the school was performing with its GCSE and A-Level results and wanted to challenge myself to become part of such a successful organisation and for the students that I taught to achieve their full potential.
Upon my return I was pleased to find the school environment was as friendly as I remembered and the students still polite, courteous and with a confidence that comes from being part of a strong community that is assured in its ethos.
I am always amazed at the large number of events and activities that are going on at Hayes and delighted to see the gusto with which the students take part in these, especially the sporting activities after school when the playing fields and indoor halls are alive with students of all ages and abilities joining-in and supporting each other.
Since returning to Hayes I have felt renewed in my desire to teach and feeling of being appreciated as a teacher. The science department are very supportive, friendly and sociable while having an established and incredibly dedicated SLT team, which helps the whole school day run smoothly. The students arrive to lessons with a positive and resilient attitude and follow the whole school’s high expectations allowing me to get on with the now much more enjoyable and much less stressful role of teaching Physics.
