Hayes School Rugby Team awarded

Our Senior 1st XV Rugby team have been awarded the recognition of England Rugby Travel’s Emerging Team of the Season following a successful year in which they have performed beyond all expectations. The team have been unbeaten in their regular set of fixtures and enjoyed a brilliant run in the National Under 18 Schools Vase Competition reaching the quarter final stage.

We beat off some fierce competition to win this award against the likes of Kingswood, Newcastle-Under-Lyme, Reed’s, New Hall, and Wisbech Grammar School and are really grateful to all the students, staff, parents and friends of the school who voted online.

“The rise of rugby at Hayes School has been remarkable, just a couple of seasons ago they had never entered any major tournaments, since then they have added a second XV, something they never had before, have linked up first with London Scottish, and over the course of this season, with Saracens. Such has been their rise, that by next season they can surely no longer be considered simply to be ‘emerging’. It is for that reason then that that we agreed with the public vote, making them our England Rugby Travel Emerging Team of the Season, for over the course of this year they have put themselves on the map, emerging in the truest sense”
