Parents » Year 6 Transition 2021 entry
We are looking forward to welcoming you to Hayes School at the start of the next academic year in August. The transition to secondary school represents the beginning of an exciting new chapter for all students, with the promise of many enjoyable and successful school years ahead.
This year we are pleased to announce the following Induction activities, which are pleased to be able to deliver, in line with our COVID 19 system of controls and guidance from the Department of Education.
*Take a look at the weather - we are based outdoors (although undercover), so school jackets or raincoats may be desirable.
*The grass has recently been cut, so if your child suffers from hayfever, please take preventative measures to reduce the symptoms.
*Whilst we have received information from your Year 6 teachers, you may wish to inform us of any any injuries, impairments, or medical conditions. To inform us, please update a member of staff at the entry gate.

Tuesday 6th to 8th July - Induction Experiences. We are really pleased to be be able to offer all students the opportunity to visit Hayes School and to have mini-lesson tasters, an orienteering activity and a self-reflection activity which will be shared with their Tutors. A letter has been sent to parents and carers, but a second letter will be sent which will offer details as to what to expect, what to wear and what to bring. Due to the careful management of bubbles, it is not possible to change the date, or session, that you have been allocated.
Monday 9th to 13th August - Hayes Summer School. Regrettably, it is not possible to offer this to all students, so in line with the guidance set out by the Department of Education and with additional guidance from Primary Schools, our event aims to :
* offer the chance to boost literacy and numeracy skills, ensuring all children are ready for Secondary School,
* offer wider enrichment opportunities designed to boost their cultural understanding, especially where Primary curricula has been inhibited,
* support the wellbeing of students, particularly those who have shown higher levels of anxiety over the last year.
Summer School Invitations were sent on w/c 28th June.
