Student Leadership

We are extremely proud of the student leadership opportunities offered at Hayes School and firmly believe that participation in these activities has a positive impact both on the leaders themselves as well as those that they are working with and leading. This was why Student Leadership was a designated Area of Excellence in our November 2016 Challenge Partners Review.

Students are actively encouraged to take a leading role within the school in order to support our ethos of strong community and innovation. Opportunities are created for students across all year groups to contribute to the well-being and development of the school and wider community.

Students are encouraged to contribute informally and formally in a number of ways. All student leadership opportunities will be advertised and students are able to volunteer for positions of responsibility at various stages in the academic year. Alongside the opportunities offered, there are leadership development and training offered to enhance students awareness of effective leadership. Involvement in leadership opportunities are rewarded through the awarding of Achievement points.

Hayes School will:

Provide a range of participation and leadership opportunities which cater for all students in the school
Maximise the number and range of students undertaking leadership roles
Provide recognition of all student leadership roles through Achievement points, certificates and letters and end of term awards.
Develop student participation and leadership skills in all students through specific programmes, for example:
