Curriculum Intent

The Hayes School Curriculum

Our Curriculum Intent:

At Hayes School, our commitment is to provide moments of joy, support pupils to thrive beyond our gates, and nurture community and character through a curriculum that is conceptual, inclusive and responsive. Our values — kindness, endeavour, inclusivity and responsibility — shape every aspect of this curriculum. They ensure that every pupil, particularly the most disadvantaged and vulnerable, is known, supported and challenged to achieve highly and to flourish in school and beyond.

Our curriculum gives pupils the powerful knowledge, secure literacy and numeracy, and the character habits that enable them to flourish academically, socially and in future study or employment. It engages pupils through well‑sequenced conceptual learning, rich experiences, high challenge and meaningful connections to the world they live in.

We deliver this through carefully designed subject curricula, high‑quality teaching, adaptive practice and ongoing professional development that ensures consistency and ambition in every classroom. Assessment is purposeful and aligned to curriculum constructs, enabling teachers to identify gaps, adapt teaching and ensure every pupil is on track for ambitious outcomes.
